Lighting the future

One feature of the city is the coexistence of old and new, traditional and innovation. This lamp dates from the 1940s, when it was opened to Presidente Vargas Avenue, one of the axes of movement of the city and is where most of the buildings of the city administration.


Uma das características da cidade é a convivência entre o novo e o antigo, o tradicional e a inovação. Esta luminária data da década de 1940, quando foi aberta a avenida Presidente Vargas, um dos eixos de circulação da cidade, e aonde está a maioria dos prédios da administração da cidade.



This is the Pantheon of Duke of Caxias, patron of the Brazilian Army and hero of the War of Paraguay.
Behind him is the building of the Headquarters of the Eastern Military Command, former building of the Ministry of War, when the Rio de Janeiro was the capital of the country, now called the Duke of Caxias Palace

The Ministry building was opened when he was inaugurated President Vargas Avenue, the monumental axis that bisects the town's administrative center.

Este é o Panteão do Duque de Caxias, patrono do Exército brasileiro e herói da Guerra do Paraguai. Atrás dele, está o prédio do Quartel-General do Comando Militar do Leste, antigo prédio do Ministério da Guerra, quando o Rio de Janeiro era a capital do país, hoje chamado Palácio Duque de Caxias

O prédio do Ministério foi inaugurado quando foi inaugurada a avenida Presidente Vargas, o eixo monumental que corta o centro administrativo da cidade.
