Art of Reading and Viewing

The Reading Room of the France-Brazil House is part of a project - the Project LerVer (literally, ReadingView) - that wants to bring the public what is most representative of contemporary art. Catalogs, art books and other publications donated to the house by artists, cultural centers, museums, galleries and art critics, among others, make up the library.

The room was created by a designer - Gringo Cardia -, who donated the design, and performed by Spectaculu - school plant shows. Table stage, wooden chairs, a bookcase where one can view the entire collection and the lighting soft and cozy.

In planning for the Reading Room are also meeting of poetry, readings, theatrical presentations and workshops.

  1. I love the idea of making these books and publications to the public but those stools look soooo uncomfortable!

Why don't they give you comfy chairs where you enjoy spending the whole afternoon? It really makes you think that culture is something stylish but not enjoyable!

Why?

(Marcel Proust)

What?

We walk by the streets of our city and very often we don’t realize its images, which are there and which suddenly are not any more.

To photograph and glance is to guard images, impressions. It is also to re-discover the space where we live, our imaginary and scenario of our lives.

Our glance is not enough. It is necessary that others look what we see.
